Beagle Puppy

Hi sweeties! How's everyone's day been? I thought I'd post a few pictures of a walk we took this evening with our new beagle puppy, Mila. Poor little puppy Mila probably doesn't know what her name is because each of us have a different name for her. My mom calls her Scoopy Lou, Allie calls her Lady Bug, Kat calls her Clemey (short for Clementine)... or sometimes we all just call her poopy puppy or the little tinkler. haha. Does anyone do the same thing as us and call your dog like a billion different names, or are we just weird?

Oh, also if you were wondering, this is my house :). I live in the most beautiful place. I always forget how wonderful it is when I'm gone, but quickly reminded the second I come home. I live out on the Goswick Ranch. My dad's a cattle rancher and this is where I grew up :). I'm so thankful for that! Is anyone doing anything fun for Thanksgiving? What are you all thankful for?

Cinnamon Apple Pull Apart Bread

Yesterday I made this Cinnamon Apple Pull Apart Bread. It felt like a good fall yummy treat :)! So I suggest you grab your sisters or mom and make some of this! It smelled divine... and well...judging that it is already gone today, I think people liked it. Check out the recipe below!

The Rancher's Daughter

For the filling:
2 tablespoons unsalted butter1/2 cup packed brown sugar1 tablespoon ground cinnamon1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract3 medium apples (about 2 cups), peeled, cored, and thinly sliced 1/2 cup pecans or walnuts, chopped

For the dough:

1/4 cup (4 tablespoons) unsalted butter, melted1/3 cup lukewarm milk1/4 cup lukewarm water2 large eggs1 teaspoon vanilla extract3 cups King Arthur Unbleached All-Purpose Flour1/4 cup sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast

For the glaze:
1 cup powdered sugar1 tablespoon milkmix both ingredients together in a small bowl. Add more milk if necessary to get desired consistency. I like it to be the consistency of a thick syrup.

To make the dough:
Whisk together the butter, milk, water, eggs, and vanilla extract.
In the bowl mixer, mix together the flour, sugar, salt, and yeast, then add the wet ingredients. Using the dough hook attachment mix and knead, until the dough is smooth. The dough will be quite soft. If it seems too dry add a little water, if it seems too sticky add just a little flour, up to a 1/4 cup.
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover, and allow to rest until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
Grease a 9" x 5" loaf pan.
Gently deflate the dough and turn it out onto a lightly greased surface.*  Roll the dough into a 12" x 20" rectangle.
Stir the vanilla into the melted butter. Spread the butter mixture over the entire top on the dough, Use a pastry brush to get the butter even spread over the surface of the dough. Sprinkle the brown sugar over the top, using your hand to spread it evenly over the butter. Sprinkle the cinnamon evenly over the dough. Add the apples, on top of the cinnamon and sugar and sprinkle on the nuts, if using.
Cut the dough crosswise into six 3 1/2" x 12" strips. Stack the strips on top of one another. Cut the stack into six pieces, about 2" x 3 1/2" each. This part is a little messy but it doesn't have to be perfect.
Turn the pieces on edge, and place them in the loaf pan one in front of the other from one end of the pan to the other, squeezing them in tight. I sprinkled any nuts or apples that had fallen off over the top of the dough after I put it into the pan.
Cover the pan and allow the loaf to rise for 30 to 60 minutes, until it's almost doubled in size. While the loaf is rising, preheat the oven to 350°F.
Bake the loaf for 45 to 55 minutes in the center of the oven, tenting it with foil after 30 minutes. Remove the loaf from the oven, and transfer it to a rack to cool for 15 to 20 minutes before turning it out of the pan to cool completely.
While still slightly warm, spoon the glaze over the top of the bread.

These next few photos are of my house! My great-great grandfather build this house in the 1880's. Crazy huh?! My mom is a fabulous decorator...as many of you know :) Hope you like!

Arizona Boho Girl

I'm so so happy today. Guess why?? I'm home!!!! After working at Anthro on Saturday for our Holiday meeting (so fun) I decided to skip school (who needs that) Monday and Tuesday and drive home early for Thanksgiving. My Brennan honey was supposed to go with me, but since grad chiropractic students are super serious and don't take time off he couldn't come... sad. So my drive home was a little lonely. But I had Taylor Swift's new album, Red, to listen and bust out too. I'm a HUGE Taylor fan... I think we would be best friends if we met :).

Music, though, only entertains me for so long. So about 4 hours into the drive I decided to pull off the road and do a quick little photo shoot. It was kinda sketchy though because I turned off on this dirt road that looked like the place where big scary men go to rape girls. So it was really quick. But okay picture this, it'll make you laugh. Imagine me pulling off to the side of the road, doing my makeup, changing, putting on tights and heels then carrying my tripod to set up the shot. Then running back and forth in my heels, might I add, pushing the shutter button. It's not like I was dressed for a shoot. I mean who travels in heels, a hat with their hair down?... Not me.

So here they are. Be thankful for these... this shoot was hard work :). The important thing is that I got home safe and am having a great time with my family and our new beagle puppy!! Another post on her, cinnamon apple pull apart bread, and photos of my beautiful sister coming soon! I've been shootin' like a mad woman :) Have a good day darlings!

Today in Southern California it feels like fall...finally. Finally able to wear socks to bed, drink tea midday, wear tights and boots and not be too hot. I love fall.
