Strobe Lights 2

Hi readers! Here are a few more from the Rachel shoot. I know, I know, they are a bit different for my usual work, but I'm trying to try new things! I normally don't shoot at night or use the strobes but, like I said, I'm trying things I'm not as comfortable with. I'm trying to go with a more fashion/edgy look also. Like I may have said before, I'm building my fashion portfolio this semester... so these are a part of that!

It's a work in progress for sure. Sometimes I struggle with wanting to be the best right now. I want to be successful right now! In my life, I always strive for perfection at the present time... which is good that I am determined and not lazy but this quality can also become a negative in my life. Lately I've been discouraged about my work and my abilities because I gather photo inspiration from so many amazingly talented photographers all day! And trust me, there are hundreds of talented and successful photographers out there. Then I get to comparing my work with theirs... my successes to theirs... it gets discouraging. So I need to keep in mind to focus on what good work I have done! I need to focus on the process and the growth that I can see in myself through my work.

So whatever your dream or goals are in life, I know that it can be tough working hard day after day and not feeling like you are accomplishing anything. But keep going! Keep working hard! If you are passionate about what you do, hopefully one day all of your efforts will pay off and you will get what you have always wanted. (At least that is what I'm hoping for) :)

Strobe Lights

These are a few shots from a recent shoot I did at night with the strobes. I'm not a huge fan of using the strobes, so I thought I'd branch out. These are of a friend named Rachel. She's a beauty! More to come of her. Stay tuned...

Oh p.s. I've opened my new website. I'm still working on it, but it's up! Check it out here: emilygoswick.com This site is for my fashion portfolio. The rest of my work, you can find here on the blog,  facebook page, or my tumblr.

Morning Light

Good morning everyone! Happy Friday! I'm exhausted :(. One thing that is pleasent every morning when I wake up in my new house is the lighting. I walk out of my bedroom and into the living room where there is a single couch with white blank walls all surrounding it. My roommates do not like this feature... but I do because it is amazing for photos! The morning sun seeps into the window to the right of the couch while illuminating that whole area with a beautiful sheen. So, two days ago, I couldn't take the amazing lighting screaming, "photograph me!" anymore. I had to do some photographs. This is Taylor, one of my housemates. She is precious and so beautiful. Let me just add that she is sick with a cold in these pictures, just woke up, and has no makeup on...yep. Told you! She's a natural beauty :)

Have a good weekend everyone!

Anthropologie

So as you may have learned from my recent posts, I got a job at Anthropologie. I love it! So fun! All the girls that work there are such dolls and I'm not just trying to be nice, they really are super sweet! I work at the one at Fashion Island. So if anyone is in the area, come see me!

This post is just a few pics of my outfits for work recently. I apologize for the lame cell phone pics... I never do that. And I'm slightly embarrassed of it haha but I thought you may like some outfit inspiration. I'll put the non-cell phone pic first so it isn't as bad ;).

I'm mixing a lot of brands here. Hard Tail, Free People, Genie, Nicole, Desigual. As you know, I'm a boho chic girl all the way so I'm trying to integrate a more Anthro style look (feminine, tailored, womanly) into my outfits.

Anthropologie's clothes are beautiful as all of you may know so please pray that I won't spend my whole paycheck on more clothes. Thanks :).

Full Anthro Outfit :)

Dinner Date!

Hi readers... Again I apologize for the inconsistency with posts!! I feel so bad. I miss blogging. I like having a defined schedule. Anyways, if you want to know what I've been doing with my time...here it goes.

Wake up at 7. Go for a run or a walk depending on how I feel that day. Class at 8, chapel, chiropractor, class again (photo 3), workout, homework, email, email, class (independent study), phone call, phone call, class again (ceramics), homework, email, see Brennan for a minute...go to bed.

Repeat.

Then the other days I'm either working at Anthro!, doing class projects, homework, and networking (more emails and calls).

So you may ask, why all the phone calls and emails? Well, this semester I'm trying to build my photography website. More importantly I'm trying to build what is going on the site: Fashion images. My dream job of all dream jobs would be to someday become a photographer for Free People, Anthropologie, or really any other creative and beautiful fashion magazine. I love lifestyle/fashion images! So what I've been doing is trying to email every model in Los Angeles that will do a shoot for me for free :(. You'd think finding a model in Los Angeles is easy...but think again my friends. Sad for me. So if you know any models who are wanting to build their portfolio, have them email me! Another thing that I've been doing is emailing/calling photographers that I admire. That list goes on forever because I'm obsessed with a ton of people's work. I find new inspiration every day! Our world is so saturated with beautiful images...I hope that one day my images will stand out :). (little fun fact, I'm meeting Mark Hanauer tomorrow...he has photographed like every celebrity! His images are beautiful)

Okay. Done with my ranting. This post is not about all of that stuff. This post is about my date that I prepared for Brennan! My honey's birthday was in March... and we just celebrated it. Yes. I know. I win the bad girlfriend ribbon for the day... But I think I redeemed myself in this date. Here's what I did. Made him his own homemade whole wheat meat-lover's pizza and Coldstone treat for dessert! Two of his favorite things! I love to cook and I thought that this would be a great way to make him feel cherished and appreciated :). I also got him a Diesel watch. Yes. There we go... I've redeemed myself. And I made him a frame of 100 pictures of us together on different occasions. So many great memories that we've shared, so why not compile them and remember them all at once! So if there are any girlfriends out there in need of some creative way to make their bf feel special, this is the post for you! Hope you enjoy :).

This one I made for him because his favorite color is purple.

this one is for me and my room...because I love pink. and I love color.

My little set up :). Had the dinner at his sweet grandparents house.

Me and le' boyfriend :)

He's gettin ready to rumble.

I made a gluten free pizza for me too! (this one looked a little funky, but tasted so yummy!)

Our view from the night. Couldn't have been more exquisite.

Isn't he cute?!

That's it folks! Have a good night.
