So You Wanna Be A Rodeo Queen??

So, as you all know, I was the Prescott Frontier Days Queen last year. This year I had the privilege of carrying the Arizona state flag at the rodeo . Being a rodeo queen is so fun but it also is hard work! Rodeo Queens always look pretty with their curly hair and blingy outfits, but there is much more to that kind of role other than curlers and diamonds ;). During my reign I got the privilege of attending parades and ride in others rodeos around Arizona. I also had to attend monthly rodeo meetings, visited veteran hospitals and schools and wrote newsletters every month.

Running for a rodeo queen title is the same as running for a beauty pageant...except instead of the talent competition, we have a horsemanship competition. We are given a pattern to complete, then asked multiple questions that can be anything about horses, the rodeo, or the tack. We also have to compete in the modeling, interview, personality, and appearance.

Pretty interesting right?? I'm thinking about running for Miss Rodeo Arizona... I don't know though. There are so many things I want to do in life! Sometimes I feel like I don't know how I'll fit everything in! Regardless, rodeo and the ranching lifestyle will always be apart of my life. It is such a fun part of my life that I'll never let go.

If any readers want to become a rodeo queen there are a few things that are a necessity. I know some of the "rules" below are silly, but in all seriousness, to be a rodeo queen you must be a good role model. Be kind to others, have others best interests at heart, set a good example, respect your authority and the livestock, be humble, have a servants heart, and try your best to always learn and improve. Those really are the key aspects of what I think every rodeo queen should be. Do that and you will be the most beautiful queen there ever was!

Rule 1: Gotta have that curly hair and those sparkly shirts!
This year at the rodeo.

Rule 2:You must be able to handle some rain...even in the bling.

Rule 3: Always be picture ready!

Rule 4: Nail down that wave for your hot lap.

Rule 5: Keep that buckle nice and shiny! :)

Rule 6: Know how to get on your horse with some style.

Rule 7: Be patriotic!
Fourth of July Parade.

Rule 8: Know how to ride horses of all shapes and colors!

Rule 9: Always take good care of your horses.

Rule 10: Strut your stuff. Be confident!

Rule 11: Always have a smile on your face and a good attitude...you never know who is watching.

Rule 12: Be loving to all, especially to your parents. They will always be your biggest fans, supporters, and encouragers...I know mine are.

Rule 13: Always have a smile on your face and a good attitude...you never know who is watching.

Photos taken by mom amazing mom. I would put as a rule to have a rockin' photographer as your mom...but I thought there can't be too many of those out there. I am just lucky to have one :).

Picnic at the Square

Hi everyone! Hope everyone is having a wonderful summer. I know I am :). My boyfriend, Brennan,  came to town to see me in the rodeo then stayed for a couple days after too. We had so much fun. One of the days my family planned a summertime picnic fully equipped with Chipolte, pizza, watermelon, and zucchini cake. Delish! It was perfect out, we went to the downtown courthouse. There is a picture that we have in our home of my great-great grandfather on the same courthouse steps that are their today atop his mule. Back then, the men after a lion hunt, would parade downtown on their mule/horse carrying the lion they had caught...it was like the "cool thing" to do apparently. Even without my family's rich history here in Prescott, I would still love downtown. All of the fun shops, the green grass, and fun restaurants that are around, you are bound to have fun. One of my favorite things to do downtown is people/dog watch. I have a theory. That all dogs look like their owners! It is so true, next time you are downtown look at all of the dogs with their owners...it's so entertaining! So if any of you Prescottonians (my word for Prescott People) are searching for a good family night out or date night, order a pizza, grab a blanket and Wha-La! You have the perfect night! Don't forget to bring your camera cause you will want to remember your precious memories. Here are mine :).

My precious little sister Katherine. Look at those long lashes! Beautiful!

Rodeo Time!

Howdy Hey! Hopefully up in Prescott everybody knows that it is rodeo week here in Prescott Arizona! Since the 28th, I have been to the rodeo every night carrying our great Arizona flag. Also, everyone should know its the centennial year for Arizona! The rodeo here in Prescott, is the World's Oldest Rodeo; it started in 1888. There were rodeo's before this, but this wonderful rodeo is named the oldest because it is the first rodeo that ever took record of the competitors and events. There are some fun facts for you :). Anyways, if you haven't been to the rodeo yet, I suggest you do...it's so much fun! I love love love it. Today's photos are taken by my fabulous mom fyi... she is great, isn't she?! Have a great day everyone, if you are at the rodeo tonight come say hi! I'll be the blonde girl in the black hat :)

Love my sweet haus...His name is Simon. Okay okay he isn't really mine, he is Harry Vold's horse, but I like to think its mine :) Isn't he pretty?!

This is my sweet friend, Cassie. She carries the American Flag on Sunny and does a beautiful job! Sunny and Simon are best friends.

Girl + Boy

My sister and her new boyfriend, Jordan came to the house this last week. I was so happy! I love when my didder comes to see us. Allie goes to ASU and is a year older than me...we have always been so close. Sisters are the greatest thing in the world!! Everyone should have a sister. They will always be your best friend. Anyways, Allie has been talking about this boy that has been in her life, about how happy he makes her and how cute he is! So, being a sister, I couldn't wait to meet him to see if I approve. Well I met him...and the verdict is...I like him! He passed the test! He is awesome, but above all he makes my sister happy, which makes me happy! Here are their darling pics. Can't wait to see them again. They are coming up for the fourth. Hip hip hooray! Enjoy :)

Little glasses couple...so cute!
