German Chocolate Oreo Cookie Ice Cream

Okay let's talk icecream. I love it. Hands down one of my ultimate favorite foods of all time. Another one of my favorites is German Chocolate Cake...that chocolatey ooey gooeiness with that rich coconut frosting...I mean come on. And who doesn't love Oreo Cookies? Ummmm that would be no one. So one day I decided to take all of these scrumptious things and combine them into one amazing ice cream flavor. So say hello to your new favorite, German Chocolate Oreo Cookie Ice Cream. Ben and Jerry's...you wish you figured this one out ;).

Ingredients:

6 Oreo Cookies

1 pint of Cream or Half and Half (I used cream)

1 tablespoon vanilla

1/3 cup sugar

Instructions:

1. Combine cream, vanilla, and sugar into the ice cream maker...or ice cream ball (that's what I used).

2. Take the German Chocolate cake and crumble it, cake and frosting and put into the mixture. My German Chocolate cake was frozen when I did this step. Helps if it is cooler. I put in about 1/3 cup.

3. Put in the ice and kosher salt in the ice cream maker, in order to freeze more efficiently.

4. Start tossing around your ice cream ball or turn it on to start churning!

5. After about 15 minutes, check on the ice cream mixture, and scrape down the frozen ice cream that has already started to freeze on the sides of the container. Mix thoroughly.

6. Start churning/tossing again. For another 10/15 minutes.

7. At this point, crush up your Oreo cookies and place into the almost frozen mixture.

8. Churn once more for another 10 minutes.

All done! You end up with a chocolatey ice cream, from the German Chocolate cake pieces, with little Oreo chunks and coconut German Chocolate frosting swirls throughout the ice cream. By mixing in the cake in the beginning, the cake has a lot of time to incorporate into the ice cream, making it subtle and delicious. Then by adding the Oreo's last, they stay more in chunks and are able to offer a satisfying crunch while eating your icecream. And that frosting...well there isn't much better than German Chocolate Cake frosting so having that extra little flavor profile is a yummy yummy surprise!

Hope you love it!

Zucchini Cake

Chocolate Zucchini Cake

So at the Goswick Family, additionally to our high population of Apricots, we have other veggies and fruits from our trees and garden this year. Unfortuntely for my story, I can't say that we grew the Zucchini squash used in this delicious cake. It's tragic. We have squash bugs. They are evil little devils. My mom and I go outside to the garden to go squash bug hunting. We cut them in half with garden shears. Yes. Pretty graphic. Well, they destroy everything! They've eaten all our pumpkins, zucchini, cucumbers, squash.... We have no sympathy.

But fortunately for us our best friends, The Wallaces, don't have squash bugs, meaning that we get lots of goodies from them...including beautiful zucchini. So I decided to make a cake. (Zucchini are also a great option to put in pancakes. Chocolate zucchini pancakes...are you kidding me?! DELISH.)

Look below the photos for the complete recipe.

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

1/2 Cup Soft Butter
1/2 Cup oil
1 3/4 cup sugar
1tsp Vanilla
2 eggs
1/2 cup milk, buttermilk, or cream
2 1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
2 cups shredded zucchini

For the Topping:

3/4 cup chocolate chips
1/4 and 1 tbsp cup brown sugar
3/4 cup chopped nuts

Instructions:

Preheat oven at 350 Degrees F
1. Mix all cake ingredients together with mixer.
2. Make topping and spread over cake batter.
3. Bake for 60 min

Textual Tees

Happy to be working with Textual Tees for this blog post! Textual Tees have numerous options of fun graphic and texted tees, which I absolutely love because you can style a graphic tee in so many ways! Today I styled my Indian Native Tee bohemian with a western edge-- paring it with my fun leopard booties, a squash blossom necklace, tan suede shorts, and a free people scarf. For another outfit I could wear some baggy boyfriend jeans, a floppy hat, with some cute gladiator sandals. Another direction you could take this is the whole Carrie Bradshaw look with wearing a fun tutu with it. Like I said, the options for styling graphic tees are endless. And there are so many fun tees to choose from at Texutal Tees. If interested, read more about them here

Here are a few more tees that I loved from their selection. The one in the middle is the one I'm wearing!
