Tack Up

Welcome to our tack room. Isn't the beautiful hose, wheel barrow, buckets, halters, and brushes just the loveliest backdrop? haha I think so! I'm  home, so what does that mean? It means I get to play dress up with my mom's jewelry (yay). Happy happy girl. I'm wearing my white burnout Lilka Shirt from Anthropologie paired with some of my favorite thrifted old levi shorts. Very simple look. Build your own by grabbing your favorite vintage shorts and white blouse. What makes this look unique is the funky jewelry you choose to wear with it. And in my opinion, the more the merrier :). Stack it on baby!

If you ever feel overwhelmed (or underwhelmed) with your jewelry collection, fret not. Go to yard sales, go through your grandma's jewelry (with her permission of course), flea market, ect. Stuff that is one-of-a-kind makes the best and most special pieces. Take the necklace I'm wearing for example...It's an old cow tag that I put on a chain! Be creative and don't worry about building your whole jewelry collection in a day! Good things take time :).

And there's your tip for the day!

If you haven't heard of Clothed in Scarlet, you should go on over and check out her site. She has some fun things! The long ring on my index finger is from there :). So fun! Here are a few rings from her line! I have the middle one!

Cowpunchers

Here are a few pics I wanted to share from my rodeo weekend! Hope you can see another little glimpse into my wonderful life :)!

The first pic is of me and my dad. I'm riding Monkey, who is, indeed, a monkey. My dad is riding Pepto.

The second pic is of my partner Huck and I during the Ribbon Roping :). He is the best partner! He catches every year...we won a couple years ago which was so fun! This year we placed sixth. Okay for real though, the second pic is of me about to totally biff it. Sad.

The last couple are of Huck bronc riding. Impressive right? He's so good.

Oh!! And a huge thank you Athena deGanahl Photography for the great photos she took of everyone this weekend!!

Hope everyone is having a great week!

"In Love With Fashion" Skirt

Hi everyone! Sorry for my absence and my inconsistency lately! I've been home. Not working. And loving life. I can't tell you how much I've needed this break. I can't tell you how rejuvenating it is to take a instagram, facebook, and blogging cleanse for a bit. It definitely clears my mind and refocuses me. Blogging is wonderful and such a blessing in my life but sometimes I can become too wrapped up in it and too consumed with the stats, likes, and comments. So if you ever feel the same way, I suggest you just take a little break :). And if you ever want to talk about it, I'd love to chat :)...cause I'm right there with you :).

And this past weekend my family and I went up to Cowpunchers Rodeo in Williams, Arizona. We've gone ever since I can remember. We all competed, but didn't do so great this year. My partner, Huck and I got fifth in the Ribbon Roping but that's it :(. We still had lots of fun though--riding, going to Dairy Queen at night and eating a double dipped cones, seeing all of my rodeo/cowpuncher friends, watching everyone compete...it's a blast. What's your favorite rodeo event to watch? I like the Team Roping best.

While we were in the cute and quaint little town of Williams, I just had to do a fun fashion post because the walls there are killer! I mean look at this one! :) I thought that this skirt from In Love With Fashion would be a perfect contrast to the bright oranges and yellows. I'm so excited to be featuring In Love With Fashion! If you haven't heard of them, here is a tidbit from their About Us page.

German Chocolate Cake

Any German Chocolate Cake Lovers? I must say I am. I can never have the actual cake part because I'm gluten intolerant but I mean everyone knows that the frosting is the best part of a German Chocolate Cake. I now always make extra frosting just for me to eat with a spoon. Pass no judgement please. It's the best frosting ever, especially if you are a coconut lover. But I am told by my family and friends that the cake part is equally as decadent and delicious as the frosting! Plus I can tell because at the end of the night there was no evidence left on the cake plate...except for maybe a few crumbs.

Read below for complete recipe and instructions:

German Chocolate Cake:

1 Box of Chocolate Cake Mix

1 small box instant milk Choc. Pudding mix

4 eggs

1 cup sour cream *OR* if you're out of sour cream like I was out of today, use 1/2 cup buttermilk and 1/2 cup Fage Greek Yogurt

1 cup oil

1/2 cup warm water

1 1/2 cup chocolate chips

11/2 teaspoons vanilla

Instructions for the Cake:

Mix all but chocolate chips in bowl and beat on medium for 4 min.

Stir in the chocolate chips gently.

Pour in greased bundt pan

Bake for 50 min at 350 degrees

Let cool for 20 min before pouring the frosting on top.

Frosting:

1 cup evap. milk

1 cup sugar

3 slightly beaten egg yolk

1/2 cup butter

 2 tea. vanilla

Instructions for the Frosting:

Cook on Med-Low Heat

Stir constantly until thick, about 12 min.

Remove from heat

Then take a knife and cut slits in the cake, you can even take a bit of cake out to make bigger hole in the cake. Then pour some of the mixture into those slits. That way the wet frosting will soak into the cake, making it deliciously moist.

With most of the remainder of the frosting, put in and combine:

2 cup coconut

1 cup chopped pecans

Then with the completed frosting mixture pour on top of the cake.

That's it! Tell me how yours turns out!

Desert Gem

Hi lovlies! So I'm home! Yay! I had my last day at Anthropologie last week (don't worry, I'll be back!). I get more than a month off. I can't tell you how much I needed it. I'm going to enjoy the rejuvenation and my family of course. I can't remember how long its been since I've had a legit break. I just love being home. I think I'd choose being home with my family over about almost anything. The only thing I'm missin' now is my boyfriend! But he is coming up for the rodeo this weekend! So excited. My family and I compete in Cowpunchers Rodeo every year. It is so so fun! My dad team ropes, calf ropes, and does the ribbon roping. My sisters, mom, and I compete in the Ribbon Roping. And this year my dad and I are doing the Wild Cow Milking. Yes. I am going to milk a Wild Cow. For the Wild Cow Milking there is my dad (the roper), Cannon (the mugger), and me (the milker and runner). Here's how it'll go. My dad will rope the cow, Cannon will run and fight to hold her down for me while I milk her and run back to the finish line. Cool, right? Don't worry, I'll post pics :).

On my drive home, I always pass the coolest photo shoot spots and I always want to stop, but never do. So this time I did. This funky little spot is in Salome. And I do not dress up when I drive home, trust me, so I did my makeup and changed at this gas station. It was gross. It was one of those super nasty gas station bathrooms. I tried to hurry! But anyways, I thought that these bright printed Anthropologie pants and tank with my southwestern jewelry would be a perfect match with this total stereotypical Arizona photo shoot spot!

For the first look, I wore this black Left Of Center Tank from Anthropologie and for the second, a tee-shirt that my mom bought for me that she found at the NFR this year (national rodeo finals). Complete outfit details are at the bottom of the post. Or Build your look right below!

What To Wear To A Summer Wedding

Happy Thursday! So I have been receiving questions about what to wear to a summer wedding lately. Tis the season, right? I love going to weddings, don't you? What's your favorite part? Honestly, I love getting dressed up, going with Brennan, the food (I mean, duh), and seeing the bride's dress. I also love seeing how the whole thing is put together. I can't wait to plan a wedding someday! I know we all go over in our heads what we would change or what we like about it. Come on, I know you do.

A lot of weddings recently are more casual, funky, DIY...or aka "the pinterest" wedding. Speaking of, here's my pinterest. I put these outfits together thinking about a more casual affair. The first one is for a more feminine preppy look (a more traditional outfit, I'd say, for a wedding). The second one, I would wear in a heartbeat anytime, anywhere. I just love this jumpsuit. I'd wear this to an outdoor casual wedding. Hope this gives you great ideas on how to outfit for a summer wedding! Let me know if you have any other questions! I'm planning some really great hair tutorials, and beauty tips soon!
