Stripey Casual

Happy Monday :) Today I'm showing you my favorite jeans at the moment. I just picked up these JBrands from Anthropologie the other week and love them. This whole working at Anthro thing is getting me in trouble! It's hard for me to save my money when I am surrounded by all that wonderfulness (and not to mention a killer discount). Now, I don't think many woman like the whole flared out 70's jean look, but I totally do! I love to mix up the style of my jeans every now and then (don't worry, I have a lot of love for the skinny jean). Today I just paired them with a simple Pure and Good tee, which is also available in multiple colors at Anthro and only $38. And my knock-off Michael Kors watch...that I got for a grand total of $25 at No Rest For Bridget. Supa Deal!

This Saturday I was nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award by the amazing and super adorable, Megan from My Other Closet is Couture. ! Yay! I love to think that others are being inspired by what I do, so little surprises like this makes my day! Now I nominate the next 15 stylish girls who's blogs I keep returning to. So thank you for being awesome :).  its your turn to 1. thank and link back to me 2. nominate fifteen of the sites you newly follow or consistently visit (or both) and 3. let them know about it on their newest post plus 4. tell us seven things about yourself.

1.  I got bucked off a horse when I was eleven and have a scar from it still on my left cheek (you'd have to look really close :))

2. I was the biggest tomboy of all time growing up. I swore to my mom when I was 15 that I'd only ever wear a sports bra and never wear makeup. Those flew out the window.

3. My little beagle, Butter, was my best friend growing up. We called her the Rattlesnake hunter because every time she found one she wouldn't stop barking. She was our warning signal. One night when I was walking back from the barn, I would have stepped on one if butter wouldn't have started barking. She was my hero :).

4. I love to eat. I'm excited when I wake up because that means I get to have breakfast. I love whipped cream more than anyone in the world.

5. I was the Rodeo Queen for the World's Oldest Rodeo in 2011 :).

6. My boy friend and I are the most obsessed couple about dogs. When we get married we'll be the freaky couple with dozens of dogs. We love them all. Yesterday we followed this older couple who had a bulldog for 6 blocks just so Brennan could watch him walk.

7. There is no place I'd rather be than at home. I'd much rather be there than at a club or party. That life has never appealed to me!

How-To Flea Market

Hi sweeties! So today I'm going to share a few of my tips with you on how to Flea-Market. Believe it or not, there can be better ways to do this stuff! So here we go...

Tip #1: Timing. Depending on what you want out of your Flea Market experience you either want to arrive super early or super late. There are benefits from both. I usually arrive early because once it hits 9 or 10, there are thousands of others arriving at the same time as you. It is harder to maneuver between the rows. But one benefit of either staying the whole time or arriving later is that usually the booth owners lower their prices or go down with their price when bargaining. Their sole initiative is to sell. So if it is almost the end of the day, they are much more willing to go down on the price as they would be early in the morning. One more thing: usually flea markets will charge you extra to get in early. So it is up to you to see if that is worth it to you. The earlier you arrive- the less people there will be and the better stuff is available. The later you arrive- a discounted entry price and better chance for the venders to go down with items. So its up to you!

Tip #2: Dress down. I know that we girls love the chance to dress up and be all 'boho chic' to flea markets, but believe it or not it is better to dress down at these things. The booth tenders are more likely to not go down on prices when bargaining if you are wearing a super fab outfit. They will know you have the money. So instead, dress down, wear a baseball cap, jeans and a tee and you are more likely to get more bargains. Plus, most flea markets are super hot, so protect your skin by wearing a hat and sunscreen and also protect your feet by wearing flats, rainbows, or tennies.

Tip #3: Have cash. I try to only take out the cash I want to spend because one time I brought a crap load of cash, not thinking I'd spend it all. I did. Bad choice. So depending on your budget, only bring what you are willing to spend.

Tip #4: Bargain. Ask for a lesser price! I know its scary at first but it gets kinda fun! Plus a lot of the vendors like it when you counter offer their price. Just know, the majority of the vendors overprice their items. Sometimes its ridiculous! Make them an offer that you would be willing to pay. If they say yes, great! If they say no, then walk away. And I bet you 60% of the time, once you walk away, they will say, 'no no, okay! that sounds good' and sell it to you. It's a tricky business, this bargaining stuff. But trust me, my methods work ;). And if they say no two times and you still really want it, then get it. That's another thing. I still regret some things that I walked away from.

Tip #5: Bring your own food and water! Just like disneyland, these places way overcharge you. So before you go, throw some almonds, power bar, and apples in your cart and you'll be good to go. That sounds way better to me than a $10 hotdog.

That's all I got.

And this is what I got this last Sunday's flea market trip. What I'm wearing:

Flea Market Purse ($30)  //  Old Vintage Levi's ($12)  //  Vintage Embroidered Blouse ($15)  //  Wedges from Target  //  Anthropologie Hat  //

Have a wonderful weekend dears!

Firmoo Glasses Giveaway!!

Happy Thursday Readers! For this post I have the pleasure of featuring these great glasses by Firmoo. Firmoo is an online store that offers prescription glasses and sunglasses that are very affordable and fashionable. When they approached me to do a feature on their company, I was so excited. I hadn't heard of them before, but once I traveled to their website, I had lots of cute glasses to choose from. I chose the black version of this pair. I love them! They are very form fitting to the face, and they really protect my eyes. Usually the sunglasses I buy are super cute but don't have very much protection, but these are the best of both worlds! I love the gold detailing on the side too. If you want to check them out as well as all of their other glasses, here is Firmoo's website.

So, if you love these glasses as much as I did, you can win them! I'm hosting my very first giveaway!

Shine Bright

I was inspired by this dress when I saw it at Urban Outfitters...on sale for $39.95. I loved the design and all of the glitter. I just had to get it. I paired it with some classic nude pumps to let the dress shine on its own. I was also inspired to pair it with this great little flower headband, which is also available at Urban Outfitters. One of my favorite spring/summer trends at the moment are all of the flower headbands!

DAV Chic

Happy Tuesday sweets! I don't have anything clever to say right now. I'm running on fumes over here. How is your week going?

I wanted to share this fun jacket I found at the DAV! Okay. Scratch that. This fun jacket my mom found at the DAV. Had to give credit where it's due :). She's a champion at treasure finding. If you haven't heard of the DAV--it's just like a Goodwill or Savers. Turns out this Jacket is an old Airman's coat from the army. So fun right? Good find, good find.

Speaking of good finds, the Long Beach Flea Market is this Sunday with the champion treasure finder :)! My mom is coming to visit! Hip hip hooray! I'll be there, will I see you there? :)

Jacket: Vintage  //  Boots: Old Gringo  //  Dress: Free People  //  Beaded Necklace: Vintage
